Background

Desjardins Group is the largest integrated financial cooperative group in Canada with more than 5.8 million members and overall assets of over $135 billion. Cogitco Inc. is a major translation provider to Desjardins Group, supplying 500,000 words annually. The vast majority of requests made by Desjardins are in the form of French to English translation and revision services.

The Problem

Composed of several different divisions and business units, Desjardins employees operate in a variety of fields and, as a result, have differing translation needs on a weekly basis. Cogitco has been regularly mandated to translate the following documents:

• Employee bulletins for the Fédération
• IT projects for AccèsD online services
• Investment bulletins and internal memos for Desjardins Securities

In addition to supplying translation and revision services, Cogitco has to meet the needs of the departments' different billing requirements.

The Solution

• 1) For ongoing translation requests, a process has been put in place where deadlines are always respected and strict quality control measures are followed.
• 2) For billing management, a variety of pricing and invoicing structures were built - including special arrangements for certain ongoing projects - that take into account the specific needs and expectations of each.
